Mont Blanc Climb · 8 September 2025

The Joshua Tree support and improve the emotional well-being and mental health of all family members affected by childhood cancer, in the North-West of England and North Wales. We offer support during and post treatment. All our support services are free to the families.

Story

After successfully trekking the Arctic in February 2024, I was inspired by the incredible experience and the sense of achievement that comes from pushing personal limits. So, when the opportunity arose to take on another epic challenge - climbing Mont Blanc - I couldn’t say no.

The Mont Blanc climb, standing at 4,808 meters, is a true test of physical endurance and mental strength. I'll be teaming up with Mont Blanc Guides for a 6-day programme to reach the summit, with conditions far tougher than many iconic peaks. In fact, it’s considered more challenging than climbing Aconcagua (6,960m) and significantly harder than Kilimanjaro (5,895m). Summit day itself requires an effort that far exceeds the physical demands of running a marathon, with the added difficulty of high-altitude conditions and technical terrain.

What made this adventure even more meaningful was the chance again to support our charity partner, The Joshua Tree, which helps families affected by childhood cancers. Combining a personal challenge with a cause so close to my heart made this decision an easy one.

Knowing I’m doing it for such a worthy cause will keep me motivated every step of the way. I’m excited to take on this journey, raise vital funds, and create awareness for The Joshua Tree’s incredible work.

A huge thank you to The Expedition Shop in Ambleside for their ongoing support in kitting me out with the gear needed for this incredible opportunity – your expertise and assistance have been invaluable.

The Joshua Tree is a Cheshire based Children's Cancer Charity. They operate across the North West and North Wales and are dedicated to working closely with families affected by childhood cancers. They tailor the services to suit the family’s specific needs, by means of emotional, academic and practical support, such as counselling, art and play therapy, health and well-being advice, support in and around the home and educational tutoring where required to help ensure that life remains as normal as possible during an incredibly traumatic time.

Together, we can make a difference - one step at a time.
