Wayne's 112 Mile Sunrise Bike Ride for Natasha's Foundation

Wayne Avery is raising money for Natasha's Foundation
Through campaigning, education and research, the Foundation’s mission is to improve the lives of the millions of people in the UK with food allergy, and ultimately create a future without food allergy.

Story

On the night of 25th July, I'll be taking on my biggest cycling challenge yet – 112 miles through the night, finishing on the Suffolk coast as the sun rises.

I've completed part of this ride over the last two years, but this year I wanted it to mean something more. Rather than simply challenging myself, I'd like every mile to help support Natasha's Foundation and the incredible work they do to make the world safer for people living with food allergies.

Having worked in hospitality and contract catering for over 35 years, and now supporting schools and workplaces across the UK, I've seen first-hand just how seriously food allergies are taken. Behind every allergy policy, menu check and ingredient label is a person or a family who simply wants to enjoy a meal without fear.

While I've been fortunate not to experience that personally, I've met enough people throughout my career to understand the impact food allergies can have on everyday life. That's why the work Natasha's Foundation does to improve education, raise awareness and campaign for safer food practices really resonates with me.

The ride itself won't be easy. I'll be cycling through the night, covering 112 miles before hopefully watching the sunrise over the sea in Dunwich. There will be tired legs, sore muscles and probably moments when I'll wonder why I signed up!

But if those miles can help raise awareness and funds for such an important cause, they'll all be worthwhile.

If you're able to support me, no matter how much, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help Natasha's Foundation continue the amazing work they do to make life safer for people living with food allergies.

Together, we can help make eating out a little safer, and a little less worrying, for thousands of families.
