Story
Last year, at just 23, Scottish swimmer, Archie Goodburn received devastating news, he had been diagnosed with a rare type of inoperable brain cancer known as oligodendrogliomas.
A former Warrender Baths Club swimmer, Archie joined the club, along side his sister and cousin, at just eight years old, progressing through the squad system. He remains one of Warrenders most successful swimmers — a National Record Holder, British Champion, World Junior Medalist and member of Team Scotland at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Archie, who now represents the University of Edinburgh, is training towards the 2026 Commonwealth Games. His unwavering courage and determination continues to inspire the entire swimming community every day.
To support him and raise funds for the Astro Brain Tumour Fund, four Mums of current Warrender Baths Club swimmers (with a combined age of 184!) will be dusting off their caps and goggles (two of whom for first time since the 1990s!) to compete in the 4x50m medley relay and the 4x50m freestyle relay at this year’s East District Masters Championships.
Please join us in supporting Archie on his journey by donating what you can to help fund vital brain tumour research and support for those affected by this type of cancer.
Team Members - Nicola Cooper, Jo Stutchfield, Laura Saunders and Sue Hoole.
