Story
To celebrate my 60th birthday in March (I don’t do parties), I wanted to do something to remember it with my son Jake.
***Update, due to poor weather the new date is now 20th June***
We’ve decided to take the plunge and have arranged a tandem skydive to raise funds for 2 charities on March 28th 2026. One obvious charity is Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team (WBMRT), where, in January 2026, I’ll have been a member for 40 years. The other charity is the Wales Air Ambulance, with whom WBMRT work closely.
Both of these charities need donations to help keep them saving lives.
Helly Hansen has donated several prizes that I’ll be giving away. Everyone who donates via this JustGiving page will have their name entered into a draw. Prizes are 1st HH Rucksack, 2nd HH Dry Bag and 3rd HH Hat.
All donations will be split equally between both of these amazing charities
Western Beacons MRT
The Western Beacons Mountain Search and Rescue Team responds to emergencies, such as lost or injured people, in mountainous, remote, and rough terrain. Called upon by the police and ambulance through the 999 system, the team’s main operational area is the western area of the Brecon Beacons and spans across the areas of South and West Wales. The area covered is one of the largest covered by a single team in the UK, supporting South Wales and Dyfed Powys police
The team comprises of volunteers from all walks of life, who give their time and services freely. As a registered charity (No. 1180863) the team relies solely on donations for equipment and operational costs.
The team’s annual running costs are in excess of £35,000, and that’s without replacing vehicles and other major expenses
Wales Air Ambulance
Wales Air Ambulance is an all-Wales Charity providing critical care 24/7 to those suffering a life or limb-threatening injury or illness. Without your support, we simply wouldn’t exist, and those people suffering their worst day wouldn’t receive the advanced care that they need.
The charity needs to raise in excess of £13 million per year to deliver its lifesaving service across Wales. Only with your support can we keep the aircraft flying and Rapid Response Vehicles on the road”
