WellChild Tour of Appreciation

WellChild - Nurse Appreciation Tour
I am taking on a huge challenge to raise vital funds for WellChild, the national charity supporting children with complex medical needs.
In March 2024, I will be cycling across the UK in the first ever ‘Nurse Appreciation Tour’, visiting up to 45 WellChild Nurses to thank them for their vital work and raise significant funds which can make a transformative difference to the lives of children and families living with complex medical needs.
The c.3,200km bike ride will start from Cornwall in early March and travel to nurse locations across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, finishing in London almost four weeks later. I am hopeful by highlighting the incredible work WellChild’s nurses perform every day and the inspiring stories of the children and families they work with, the event can have an impact on the awareness and funding for the truly remarkable people WellChild supports.
We all hope the event achieves significant media coverage, with planned engagement at certain hospitals and NHS trusts.
There are a whole multitude of ways you can support / get involved:
- Sponsor: all donations, however big or small, are hugely appreciated and will make a difference.
- Join a leg (or two, or part) of the ride: please contact me directly and I will share details of the route and proposed dates / times. I will be more than grateful for the support of people joining the ride, but please be aware there will be limited flexibility in respect of the route, timings and planned stops, so make sure you understand this if planning to join! We will be riding in all-weathers on open public roads including at busy times of the day.
- Share the event: please feel free to share details of the event widely – both this page and associated social media and other coverage which will be posted here periodically.
- Corporate Partners: please contact abbyguilding@wellchild.org.uk. We are looking for corporate partners for a range of sponsorship and support opportunities for this unique event.
