Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity (Alex TLC) was founded in 2004 by a mother whose two sons had been diagnosed with leukodystrophy. She recognised the severe lack of information and support available and wanted to make sure that no one had to face leukodystrophy alone.

Story

This is for Albie ❤️💙

Albie is the gorgeous little boy of my nephew Matt and his wife Stacey.

He was born on the 6th September 2022.

On the 26th Jan 2023 Matt and Stacey’s world changed forever.

Albie was subsequently diagnosed as having Aicardi Goutieres Syndrome (AGS) a form of Leukodystrophy.

Leukodystrophies are rare genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system (ie the brain or spinal cord). They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children.

Leukodystrophies are usually degenerative, causing symptoms such as impaired mobility, vision, speech and hearing, incontinence, and loss of cognitive skills. In many cases, this sadly means a reduced or limited lifespan.

This has been a really, really tough time for everyone but Albie is a fighter and Matt and Stacey are doing an amazing job, with a huge amount of support from family, friends and Alex TLC.

Your donation will help Alex TLC continue to provide the best support possible to those affected.
