Why I’m Swimming the English Channel (in a Relay!)
This year, I’m taking on one of the biggest challenges of my life: swimming the English Channel in a relay team. It’s cold, deep, unpredictable, and - if I’m honest - a little terrifying… which is exactly why I’m doing it.
How the Sea Changed My Life
I swim in the sea every single day. What started as a simple routine became something life-changing.
Cold-water immersion has helped me manage and control my RA flare-ups, giving me strength and relief when I needed it most. During lockdown, swimming became my escape - my headspace, my therapy, and my way of staying grounded when the world felt upside down.
A Challenge I’ve Dreamed About
For years I’ve watched channel swimmers train in Ramsgate, quietly wondering, “Could I ever do that?”
The idea of swimming from land to land, through darkness and cold water, has always fascinated and inspired me. I love pushing my limits, testing what I’m capable of, and proving to myself that with determination, you can achieve more than you ever imagined.
Why I’m Fundraising for Aspire
I’m swimming to raise money for Aspire, an incredible charity that supports people living with spinal cord injuries. They rely entirely on donations, and the work they do changes lives.
If I can use this challenge to help them continue their support for so many people, then every stroke will be worth it.
Please Support My Journey
Whether it’s the cold, the dark, the distance, or the unknown, this relay is going to push me in every possible way. But I’m ready - and I’m proud to be doing it for such a worthy cause.
If you’re able to donate or share my page, it would mean the world to me and to those who rely on Aspire’s support.
Thank you 💙
