Strawberry season is back. Last year you helped me raise over £1000 for The Gem Appeal. THANK YOU SO MUCH. So I'm putting on the strawberry costume in the hope that we can do it again.

The Gem Appeal (Genetics, Enzymes and Metabolics) raises money for research and treatment for children with rare genetic diseases. These conditions are not always funded by our NHS, but imagine if it was your child? You'd hope and almost expect that treatments would be available. Please take a look at our website www.gemappeal. org.uk to see what we've achieved with your help already. There is so much more we can do. I just want to do my bit!

Why the Strawberry costume? One of the Gem Appeal's most popular annual fundraising event is the Strawberry Sparkle Ladies Lunch, held in August in Rochdale, so I took my inspiration from that. And, for a genetic connection, 60% of a strawberry DNA, is the same as a human's! Who knew?!
