Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
I’m Wes and as most of you know, I was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and treated at the Whittington Hospital.
The reason I’m fundraising for Macmillan cancer services at the Whittington is that I want to say thank you for all the help during my treatment and to tell them what an amazing team they are.
When I found out that I had bowel cancer, my first thought was about whether I was going to die. When I spoke to Macmillan they put my mind at ease and gave me a lot of support.
After my operation, I told my vicar that I wanted to do a fundraiser for the team at the hospital to say thank you to everyone who has supported me, and she agreed that it was a good idea.
I was supported not just with my treatment but also emotionally and psychologically.
At the Whittington they offer group support called The C Factor. The C Factor uses storytelling and theatre techniques as well as live performance to help patients cope with their experience. They also offer massage, acupuncture, meditation and other workshops .
All of the above is organised and run by the Macmillan team at the hospital and is funded by the Whittington Health Charity.
Thank you so much for your donations. You are not only helping me to say thank you to my team but you are also helping to ensure that all cancer patients at the Whittington receive the same level of support that I received.
