West End Team is raising money for Alport UK

Team: Allsop team fundraising for Alport UK

This fund will help Alport UK campaign for earlier diagnosis and better mental health support. It will improve the health of people living with Alport Syndrome, and give them the tools and confidence to take control of their wellbeing.

Story

On Tuesday 3rd November 2026, the Allsop West End Team will be taking on the London Bridges Challenge, walking 32 miles (c. 52km) along the Thames Pathway, crossing all of the 26 London bridges between Hampton Court Bridge in the West to Tower Bridge in the East - in support of our chosen charity for the year, Alport UK.

Alport UK was established in 2013 by Susie Gear, wife of our colleague George Walker. The catalyst for founding the charity was through two of their children living with Alport Syndrome (as well as Susie), a rare genetic inherited condition, which has resulted in the need for hearing aids and kidney transplants for two of their children, one of which was donated by Susie.

The charity was established to assist in providing a support network for patients, families and all those affected by Alport Syndrome. Valuable fundraising and the efforts of Susie and others not only contribute to research, but continue to successfully raise the profile of Alport syndrome within the scientific community. Some of the work they carry out not only benefits those affected by Alport but other kidney diseases too.
