Shine supports adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s who have experienced a cancer diagnosis. Too old for children and teenage services but too young for traditional cancer support, we support the people who fall into a devastating cancer support gap.
Story
The 2023 Westbury Harriers’ Charity Run will take place on 21st August with, of course, the essential cake sale following the run!
For those who haven’t joined the charity run before, it is a unique training session in which all club members run together, wearing club kit, to raise funds for the Club’s charity of the year. This is topped off by one of the iconic Westbury events - a cake sale!
This year’s event will support Shine Cancer Support, a charity which supports those in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, who experience a cancer diagnosis. Shine is the only charity supporting this age group - one which is largely forgotten in cancer care. A cancer diagnosis in your 20s, 30s and 40s has an immense impact (as does any diagnosis) but hits at a time when others are having families, progressing in their careers and enjoying life.

Shine has been particularly important for two Westbury runners this year. This link explains why:
We would love as many members and supporters as possible to take part, whatever your normal group. Having a wave and blue and white running through Blaise is an incredible sight.
Bakers are also an essential part of this event - can you make a cake for the sale?
If you don’t want to run but would like to help out, please email membership@westburyharriers.Co.uk
If you aren’t able to make the run, please consider donating to Shine. 1 in 2 of us will experience a cancer diagnosis at some point in our lives and Shine offers so much hope to those who join that club at an early age.
