The cast and production team for the Lyric's forthcoming production of Sunshine on Leith which will be performed at HMT in Aberdeen from 26-29 June, re about to embark on a sponsored walking challenge. The aim of the company is to walk 500 miles - and hopefully 500 more in the 2 weeks leading up to our show week - so from 09-23 June.

Our associated charity for the show is CHAS and we are taking part in this challenge (as well as doing collections during show week) to raise awareness of the amazing work they do and to try and raise some vital funds. This will be no mean feat - we have potentially 7 rehearsals during the 2 week challenge and the whole cast also have day jobs or are studying. Coincidentally the distance from the Aberdeen CHAS office around all of their centers, offices and shops and back to Aberdeen is exactly 500 miles!

For those of you who don't know CHAS is an acronym for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland. For thirty years they've been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. This includes palliative care, family respite and support – through our hospices, homecare services and hospital presence. They have 2 dedicated hospices in Scotland as well as having CHAS at home workers to support families in their own environment.

Their ambition is that no-one should face the death of their child alone.

Three children a week die in Scotland from an incurable condition. Their strategic plan is inspired by them. Their time is precious, so their strategic plan sets out how they will provide unwavering care to children who may die young and their families, at every step on this hardest of journeys.
