Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year, I underwent cardiac surgery as my heart stopped December 2021 on Christmas Day just a week later. Prior to this, I had worked in multiple health and social care settings including throughout covid but unfortunately, what was meant to be a day surgery, turned into a year of learning to become independent again. Learning how to walk, talk, eat and live with a hidden disability that surprised family and friends - I think even the doctors involved. It was definitely not the outcome they expected!
So whilst I was in the wheelchair, money was raised, funding to buy a puppy, who has been beyond a god send of a service dog. Helping me to get my seizures and heart under control and given me the ability to live a somewhat normal life - managing the disability and growing strength everyday to appreciate life a second time round.
Therefore, I have spent the past couple of months in the gym and now being able to be consistent without being bed bound for another week. I've decided to join in, on something I never thought I would ever do (I can't walk in heels for a start! 😂) raising the funds, and asking for your sponsorship in my wheelchair to walk challenge, and compete in PCA Bikini and Transformation division as a first timer athlete. With the vision of raising awareness for people such as myself, family and friends with invisible illness and disability in schools.
Your donation of anything would be massively appreciated and a huge support to the 80% of the 1 in 5 who have an invisible illness. I ask, even if donation isn't possible today please share this to as many people as possible.
Thank you
