Where's Willie's Cycle Adventure for Mental Health Aberdeen

Where's Willie Cycle Adventure Over The Seas · 6 August 2024
I am raising money for the Aberdeen based charity Mental Health Aberdeen. They provide a range of support services to people in Aberdeen and the wider area which is increasingly important in these challenging times.
Many people have faced mental health challenges, myself included and I think the work being done by MHA is important. Cycling has been beneficial to my own mental health improving and I hope to use this to help others through fundraising.
I have previously raised money for the Place To Be charity by hitchhiking from Livingston to Stornoway. During my travels I met lots of wonderful and supportive friends and enjoyed seeing new parts of Scotland.
For my Cycle Adventure I will be attempting to cycle across all the Scottish islands, starting in Shetland and making my way to Orkney, Isle of Lewis, Isle of Harris, Berneray, North & South Uist, Eriskay & Barra. I will attempting to cover all 9 islands, over 250 miles of cycling in the space of 10 days.
During my trip I will be documenting the sights and sounds of the island, along with the wonderful people I hope to meet. This documentation will be used to produce a zine which will be available for sale after the trip is completed with all zine funds raised also being donated to charity.
I will also be documenting my trip via my social media accounts on instagram @whereswillie1 and Tiktok @whereswillie1
If you have friends on the islands I would be delighted to meet them on my journey and would love to stop off in as many villages as possible to say hi. Please contact me directly if you can help and also help to spread the word about my fundraising journey.
