Story
In rural regions of India, women walk 1-2 miles a day carrying water on their heads. Overtime, the physical and health burdens of water collection trap families in a viscous cycle of poverty.
The Water Wheel, is a large, round water drum that is fitted with handles so it can be rolled along the ground with ease. Women and girls have better things to do with their time, such as work and education. The Water Wheel can carry five times more water than a pail, meaning children no longer need to be involved in carrying water. Wells on wheels donate these wheels to deserving families free of charge.
As part of KCL Womxn in Dentistry Society we are raising money for Wells on Wheels this academic year because their mission resonates deeply with our commitment to empowering women and improving their health outcomes.
