We work with Wigan Athletic to improve health, enhance life chances and create stronger and safer communities in Wigan and the surrounding area.

Story

Staff, partners and friends from Wigan Athletic Community Trust's Health and Wellbeing programmes will be taking on the Wigan Half Marathon to raise funds to support the Community Trust's Game Changers Community Mental Health Programme.

Game Changers combines a trauma-informed approach with physical activity, peer mentoring and the empowerment of individuals to help people who may be struggling with low confidence, anxiety and other mental health challenges to grow and improve their physical and mental health. The programme provides six months of access to BeWell gyms alongside direct support during the initial 12 weeks of the programme.

To support Game Changers and ensure the programme can continue to impact and improve the lives of people across the local community, 19 people are challenging themselves to run the Wigan Half Marathon in March to raise funds to support the programme.

Runners include staff from Wigan Athletic Community Trust, NHS Living Well team members and BeWell Wigan who work in collaboration on the programme.

Also joining us will be veterans and members of the Trust's Football 4 Forces programme.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated to support this impactful programme and celebrate our runners' hard work.
