Story

I’ve joined #TeamMND to take part in the London Marathon on the 27th April 2025 in memory of my Gran, Lesley Boulton, who was diagnosed with MND in September 2023 and sadly passed away on the 4th June 2024.

If I’m honest, at first, I had little knowledge of MND and how it can suddenly flip your world upside down & that’s why I’ve joined #TeamMND… so I can help raise awareness of this horrific condition and make a difference so the MND Association can continue to research, educate, streamline care to ensure its accessibility, and so they can continue to help provide the equipment & technology that ensures those living with MND have the best level of comfort as possible.

My grandparent's have always felt like my second home, and my Gran was a big part of making that such a loving and amazing place to be… especially when it was time for cake at 3pm!

Living with an aggressive case of MND, my Gran continued to bring positivity, took every day as it came and was immensely brave, always showing a smile.

I’m running for my Gran, for my Grandad, for those who loved & cared for her (including her carers, thank you, Tina & Zoe!) and for everyone else who has been impacted by MND or who will be in the future.

Thank you for visiting my page and for supporting the MND Association in their journey to make the world free of MND,

Will

———————————————————————————————————————————

Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.

MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order.

Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help you achieve the best possible quality of life.

The MND Association focuses on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
