I’m running the Swansea half marathon on 2 weeks notice … and here’s why …

4 years ago, me and my family were delivered the devastating news that my mum, Julie Davies, had passed away aged 51.

Throughout her life my mum battled with illnesses, beating cancer twice along the way and living her life with a rare heart condition which required heart surgery to replace her valve every 20/25 years.

No matter what she went through, she battled on with a smile on her face and giving off the most contagious energy and will never not be my inspiration and hero for the rest of my life.

As a family we decided that we have no choice but to continue spreading her name and live in her honour so that is why we set up the charity the Julie Davies foundation.

Our aim is to raise as much money as we physically can to help support young children and there families who are battling heart conditions and cancer.

We’ve seen first hand how heart breaking it is to see those closest to you battling away, so we can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like for young children going through the same.

The half marathon won’t be easy, but it is nothing in comparison to what the young hero’s who we are raising money for are going through. Therefore, if you are able to do so, all donations are massively appreciated and are going to the best cause in memory of the best woman.
