Story
Fun Uncle? More like RUN UNCLE!
This April, I'm heading back out on the marathon trail, doing everything my knees will let me to raise money for Adoption UK.
The reason?
This one's for my whole family. Adoption forms a huge part of our DNA — literally weaving through multiple generations of my extended clan — and I've seen first hand how life changing its impact can be on the kids, parents and everyone around them. But whether adopting or being adopted, that impact takes a hell of a lot. Months of perseverance, dedication and patience, followed by a lifetime of care, love and selflessness. A marathon's small change in comparison.
And while I've been fortunate to see my family grow over the past few years (including the two cherubs above), sadly there are still hundreds of children still searching for theirs. So I want to do my bit to help, and couldn't think of a better cause to champion than Adoption UK's.
The challenge?
Not 1, not 2, but 3 marathons... all in the space of 14 days. I'll be tying back my mullet, taping up my nips and taking to the hard streets of Paris (13th), Macclesfield (20th) and Manchester (27th) for 126.6km (!!!) of rapidly declining running. It promises to get a whole lot less scenic and a whole lot more painful with every step, so any well wishes you can throw my way will be unbelievably appreciated.
If you could give anything, big or small, I can guarantee you every last penny will go to powering my legs from the the Arc de Triomphe to the University of Manchester. And maybe together, we can help more beautiful kids find more beautiful families.
Allez allez allez!
