Story
My name is William. I am 8 years old. I am a boy who loves helping people. This year, I am running the Escalade Race (during a cold geneva winter!) to raise money to provide scholarships to children in South Africa through the Sumbandila Scholarship fund.
In November I am going with my Mom to visit a very special school in Limpopo South Africa, which is supported by the Sumbandila scholarship fund. While we are there we get to surprise new students with the scholarships they have won with the money we raise.
My sisters Eloise and Chloe have already visited in 2019 and 2022 and I am excited to meet the students who are already in the program and see how their lives have changed since they were awarded their scholarships in 2019.
Sumbandila educates and takes care of children who come from very difficult conditions but who work very hard to do well in school. Sumbandila gives merit scholarships so the children can get a good education, good doctors, a place to live where they have everything they need - food, mentorship, a real bed to sleep on and love.
When I was younger I only cared about myself and now I’ve learned that some people aren’t as lucky as I am and I think every child should be able to buy food and go to school.
Thank you for donating. I can’t wait to share my experience with you in November.
Love, William
