William's fundraiser for The Always a Rifleman Programme

William Cochrane is raising money for The Rifles Regimental Trust

In August, I will be attempting to complete, self-supported, the entire 537-mile route of the Scottish National Trail from North to South · 17 August 2026

We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.

Story

Having completed the GB Ultras Race Across Scotland twice before, I was looking for a new challenge and wanted something that would inspire others to get moving as well as hopefully raising more money for charity.

This time round, I will be raising money for the Always a Rifleman Programme.

The Always a Rifleman Programme (AARP) delivers support in the first few hours of an emerging crisis and paves the way to wellness.

It is proven to save lives. During the most challenging real-life problems, it provides face-to-face coaching, mentoring and mental health support.

For veterans and their dependants of The Rifles or antecedent regiments, this is a dedicated service available 24/7.

As with my previous runs across Scotland, I am also fundraising for both the MND Association and Prostate Cancer UK.
