We provide vital funds to help young people learn new skills, build confidence and be inspired through their ACF experience. Our grants programmes support thousands of Army Cadets and ACF Adult Volunteers to access activities and development opportunities that make a positive impact for life.

Story

I am William Da Silva, and I was an Army Cadet from ages 14-16.

I believe the Army Cadets is a positive influence on young people and gives them skills for life. If I'm able to add more praise and details for the charity after the initial draft for this page I will.

I decided to challenge myself by signing up for an MMA fight for charity, because I'd like to have the experience at least once in my life, and I am fundraising for what gave me the best experience of my life, Army Cadets. It does the same for so many young people and adult volunteers.

It was the first time I was physically fit, although perhaps I was too light. I'm 166.5 cm or 5'5" and during Army Cadets I was just over 50 kg. Now I am 89.6 kg and my target weight is 69 kg, (nice). Although the more important target is 83.0 cm waist circumference, which for now is 106.0 cm.

To prepare I've restarted Brazilian Jiu Jitsu this July, starting at 87.8 kg and 112.5 cm waist circumference. I guess I've gained muscle if I've gained weight and lost circumference. I aim to be a less rotund gentleman come fight time otherwise my opponent will be much taller than I, although I am prepared to face that circumstance also.

I currently train under esteemed Grandfather Sensei Jon Collins at Mauricio Gomes' Legacy Guildford for BJJ and at Shinkick Guildford for Muay Thai.

Free additional MMA training for 8 weeks before the fight at 3 times a week begins on the 16th of September this year, 2024.

Wish me luck!
