Story
William says:
I am raising money for Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group because my cousin Toby had leukaemia when he was a toddler. He had to have chemo treatments for a really long time and surgeries, and he would have had an easier time getting better if his regular doctor had known what to look for and ordered the right tests sooner.

CCLG funds research into childhood cancers, and works to educate GPs on how to detect and diagnose these cancers. Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer, and 66% of cases in the UK are diagnosed in an emergency setting, which means that our health system is failing to properly diagnose 66% of sufferers before their symptoms become so severe that they have to go to A and E. With better GP training, more of these children will be diagnosed earlier in the course of their illness, leading to better survival rates, less grueling treatment, and fewer long-term health impacts. That's why we are walking in support of them in September.
In addition to its research and education initiatives, CCLG is the UK and Ireland's professional association for those involved in the treatment and care of children with cancer. It receives no permanent funding and relies on its members and donors. Any donation that you can spare, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated by the families that CCLG supports!
