Story

In January of this year, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour requiring urgent surgery. Six months later, I'm still finding my way back to fitness and to the person I was before. I'm slowly back at work and feeling my way into normal life following what has quite simply been the scariest moment of my life.

During my recovery, I was acutely aware of a privilege I held: as a fellow surgeon, I was afforded exceptional care and support. But I also saw clearly how different the experience can be for others facing the same devastating diagnosis. Many patients lack access and awareness to the same resources, continuity of care, and specialist support that made such a difference to my own recovery.

Fitness has been absolutely central to my rehabilitation. Moving from being unable to walk in the week after my surgery to running a half marathon is a challenge, especially as I'm aiming to run it faster than I did my last 1/2 marathon 10 years ago! We looking for a 1.40-45.

I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October to raise £5,000 for brain tumour research. This charity does extraordinary work funding vital research and providing support to patients and families when they need it most. Every pound raised helps ensure that fewer people have to navigate this journey without the care and hope they deserve.

I've been genuinely touched by the number of people who've reached out offering their support and encouragement., especially after my surgery. Now here's your moment to demonstrate just how much you care — make a donation, and I'll be keeping a rather detailed record of names! Consider this your opportunity to secure your place in my carefully curated hierarchy of good friends with access to irritating updates and instagram

If you're able to support me, I'd be genuinely grateful. Whether through a donation or by sharing this with others, you'd be helping to make a real difference to people facing one of the most challenging diagnoses there is. I'm aiming for £5000 but why not £10000!

Thank you.
