The Neurosciences Research Foundation helps fund research into the diagnosis and treatment of those suffering from nervous system conditions such as brain or spinal tumours or injuries, Stroke, MS, dementia, Parkinson's Disease, paraplegia and pain.

Story

In August 2017, after a stubborn battle following a sudden and acute stroke, I lost my mum, Liz. Amidst this, however, was the world-class care and support she, my family, and I received at the William Drummond Ward at St George's Hospital in London. It is truly difficult to put into words the amazing things the team did for my family during this time, and I look back in comfort knowing that everything was done for Liz.

I am proud to say that I have the chance once again to raise money for the Neurosciences Research Foundation, which funds and conducts a great deal of research at St George's Hospital into the diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions. Its research ranges from helping sufferers of ischaemic strokes to spinal cord injuries and Parkinson's disease.

That is why this coming Sunday, 6th April, I will be running the Vienna Marathon to fundraise for the NRF, and any donations I receive would mean a great deal. It is a privilege to be able to contribute to the heroic efforts of this charity, which dedicates itself to helping families such as mine.

Liz was the most incredible woman I have ever met, and aside from being such a funny, supportive, and devoted mother, she helped so many through her defiant work as a journalist. Her legacy is something I could not be prouder of, and it’s an honour to be her son.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
