Story
On Sunday 24th May, I’ll be taking on the Edinburgh Marathon to raise much‑needed funds for St Andrew’s Children’s Society (SACS) — an organisation that is incredibly close to my heart.
St Andrew’s Children’s Society is a Scottish adoption and fostering charity that has been supporting vulnerable children and families for over 100 years. They work tirelessly to find safe, loving and permanent homes for children who, through no fault of their own, are unable to live with their birth families. What makes SACS truly special is that their support doesn’t stop once an adoption is complete — they provide lifelong support, including therapeutic services, training, guidance and emotional support for children and adoptive families at every stage of the journey.
The funds raised are vital. Much of the specialist adoption support SACS provides is charity‑funded, meaning they must raise money themselves to continue offering this life‑changing work. These services make a real, tangible difference — helping children heal from early trauma and supporting families to build strong, loving and secure futures together.
My reason for running is deeply personal. My wife and I adopted our beautiful 3‑year‑old daughter in January 2025, and she has quite simply made our lives complete. She is joyful, funny, resilient, kind and full of life — and we feel unbelievably lucky every single day to be her parents.
Our adoption journey has been an entirely positive and supportive experience, thanks to the incredible team at St Andrew’s Children’s Society. From the very beginning, they were compassionate, knowledgeable and reassuring, always putting our daughter’s best interests at the centre of everything. The support we received — and continue to receive — has been outstanding, and we owe so much to the dedication, care and expertise of the SACS team.
By supporting this fundraising page, you’ll be helping St Andrew’s Children’s Society continue their vital work — giving children the chance to thrive and helping families like ours come together.
Thank you so much for any donation you’re able to give, and for supporting a cause that has changed our lives forever ❤️
