Swimming the Channel · 27 August 2024

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

This is the big one. August 27th (or thereabouts) 2024, I will be swimming from Dover to Cap Gris-Nez in France.

It’s a swim of 22 miles of cold murky water, with no wetsuits, across active shipping lanes, likely through the night, with over 14 varieties of shark (thanks Simon for listing them individually).

I’m looking to raise £1750 for Aspire, a brilliant charity that helps people with spinal cord injuries with all manner of support.

Some of you who have sponsored me previously for the Aspire Solent swim will know that after seeing a good friend of mine getting badly injured playing rugby in what can only be described as a freak accident many moons ago, Aspire were and continue to be a brilliant source of support for him.

I’m hoping through this page to keep everyone updated on training and build further awareness of Aspire.
