On Sunday 25th May, our incredible team of runners are taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival to help end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders!

Story

I am fundraising for Beat as I run my first marathon on May 25th 2025 in Edinburgh! As a long-time runner, I have always had the goal of running a marathon one day. My incredible, kind, and intelligent sister Charlotte sadly passed away in 2007 after suffering from anorexia, so simultaneously raising money for Beat is an honour.

Beat is the UK's eating disorder charity. Beat supports anyone with an eating disorder, their friends and family, as well as professionals working with or worried about an individual in their care. These serious mental illnesses include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.

1.25 million people in the UK have a diagnosed eating disorder - they affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and up to one in four sufferers are male. Increasing awareness of how to tackle eating disorders is very important and I am grateful to have the chance to do so alongside running this marathon. My wonderful Mum Pauline also ran the London Marathon twice for Beat, so I see this as following in her footsteps.

As an extra note, May 26th 2025 will be my 30th birthday, and having been born in Scotland (but moving to England when I was 1 year old), this marathon will also be a homecoming of sorts 30 years on!

I am forever grateful for anyone who chooses to donate money to my fundraiser - thank you to you all!
