Will - running in memory of my eldest brother Max Brice Rousham

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
My eldest brother, Max Brice Rousham was born in 1999, in Dubai seventeen weeks premature, weighing only 690g. He survived in an incubator for the first 8 months of his life, having been given amazing support by the local UAE hospital, and constantly surrounded by the love of my parents. During this time, he overcame multiple setbacks caused by his prematurity. Eventually, he outgrew his incubator and the best outcome was considered and agreed to be an air ambulance back to London and the expert intensive care and amazing support of Great Ormond Street.
For four months, Max thrived in the new environment of GOSH, and all indications were that there would be a positive outcome. However, Max picked up an infection that proved to be too much for his underdeveloped lungs. He passed away being held by Mum and Dad on 21 st November - having lived only 11 months.
Our family continued to struggle to grow, and I had two sisters (Jasmine and Hanna) who were born too early, and now sleep eternally with Max.
Eight years ago, Mum also passed away from a long illness, so Dad, Ollie and I know that half of our family are together again, and give us strength from up above.
A charitable trust was set up for GOSH, and over £20,000 has been raised over the years. Primarily through Dad running the London Marathon when he was 40 and 50. He is now in his 60th year, but although Ollie, Dad and I all applied for the run, we only got one entry and I was chosen as the most likely runner not to worry the street cleaners who sweep up the marathon debris after the event!
So any donations you can make to help me reach my target for GOSH, would be so so welcome, to help support positive outcomes for all children who spend too many years of their early lives - in hospital
