Story
Me, my Dad and brother will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in aid of the MNDA, who have provided unwavering support over the last year or so for my mother who was diagnosed with Motor neurone disease back in December 2023.
The symptoms of this disease vary and the rate of deterioration isn't always the same, but for my mum it all started when she noticed a weakening in her grip strength, since then this cruel disease has taken my mum's ability to speak, walk, eat and drink. This is due to the relatively rapid degeneration of motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord, which are responsible for muscle movement. The cause of this is still unknown and there is no known cure.
Throughout this however the MNDA have provided us with grants for a stairlift, power chair and more, helping to make day to day life a little bit easier.
This couldn't have been provided to our family without the help of generous donations and fundraising efforts from the MNDA community.
Therefore we want to run and raise money, so this support can continue for people who are diagnosed in the future, and research can continue, to hopefully one day find a cure. Thank you for donating.
