Anthony Cox GBS awareness and fundraiser

3 peaks in 24 hours · 23 September 2025
September 23rd 2025 I will be attempting the 3 peaks in 24 hours to raise awareness and a little money for guillain barre syndrome. September 2024 Coxy fell ill and after 10 days was taken to hospital and eventually diagnosed with GBS.
Guillain-Barré Syndrome (we just say GBS, but its pronounced ghee-yan bar-ray) is a rare but potentially life changing autoimmune condition that affects the peripheral nervous system (the nerves outside of your brain and spinal cord). It causes muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis. Symptoms often start with tingling or weakness in the legs, which can then spread to the arms and upper body. In severe cases, GBS can lead to total paralysis, affecting breathing and other essential functions. Some people may need intensive care support, including being put on a ventilator.
The 23rd signifies the date Ant was diagnosed. I will be climbing Ben Nevis, scafell pike and snowdon in 24 hours to raise the support the big man deserves for the journey he is on.
Inflammatory Neuropathies UK helps people understand and manage both acute and chronic variants of GBS, CIDP, MMN, & other Inflammatory Neuropathies. We provide peer support, information booklets, access to emotional counselling, personal grants, & practical advice. We advocate these rare conditions in press, media, and parliament. We also commission and fund field changing research to help better understand and support the community.
By raising money via JustGiving, or donating to someone's page - you're helping fund all of this.
