Wilson boys' Richmond Park Run 2025

Wilson Boys is raising money for BLOSSOM TRUST

Richmond Park October 5k, 10k and Half Marathon · 19 October 2025 ·

Mission Statement : Enabling communities by educating children and empowering women. Our Aim : Blossom Trust is a UK registered charity (no. 1145318) created in 2012. The trust started with an aim to help disadvantaged children, and has since expanded their projects into Education, Mental Health, Empowering Women, Children Care, Agricultural Support and Covid Support to achieve this objective. The Trust’s main objective is to support underprivileged undergraduate students to continue and complete their education, as many students abandon their education due to their lack of funds for their upkeep. We at Blossom Trust strongly believe that female empowerment is the seed from which one can develop a nurturing, thriving community for the future generation. Most of the disadvantaged families are headed by widowed women who are currently living in extreme poverty and malnutrition. The Trust reviews each beneficiary’s requirement with their physical and mental abilities and provides carefully monitored, tailor made, support to improve their quality of life by allowing them to gain regular income and reduce their dependency on others. By strengthening and sustaining their own household income, they will have an increased opportunity to lead a more independent family life. How we differ from others : The running cost of our charity is borne by the trustees and, which helps us to ensure all the funds collected are used towards our projects.

Story

Hi Friends and Family,

On Sunday 19th October 2025, we — [Lakshman, Roshanth, Ajay, Janahan, Neerajan, Sumy and Abisegan] — will be lacing up our trainers and taking on a 5–10 km Charity Run at Richmond Park to raise funds for the UK-registered charity Blossom Trust (Charity No. 1145318).

This cause is especially close to our hearts. Being from Sri Lanka, we’ve seen first-hand the challenges faced by communities back home. This run is our small way of giving back — helping to create opportunities for young people who deserve the chance to thrive.

About Blossom Trust

Since 2012, Blossom Trust has been empowering lives in Sri Lanka through education, healthcare, and community support. This year, your donations will go towards two life-changing initiatives:

1️⃣ Graduate Financial Support Scheme (launched 2014)

• Partners with Jaffna, Eastern, Moratuwa, and other universities to support students in need

• Currently assisting 167 undergraduates across diverse fields — from Medicine and Engineering to Law and the Arts

2️⃣ Unicom TIC – IT Training for Employment (launched 2024)

Provides an intensive Diploma in Software Programming for young people nationwide

• In its first year: 90 students trained, with 70%+ securing jobs in IT and many others pursuing higher education

• This year, 101 students will receive full boarding, lodging, and tuition support thanks to initiatives like this run

Why it matters

Every pound you give — big or small — will directly change lives. Education is the key to breaking cycles of poverty, uplifting families, and building stronger communities. 100% of donations go directly to Blossom Trust, and if you’re a UK taxpayer, adding Gift Aid boosts your donation by 25% at no extra cost.

We’d love for you to join us in person at Richmond Park on the day, cheer us on, and learn more about these incredible programmes.
