Story

In April 2026, Cara, Natasha, Katie and Peter of the Wilson family will be taking on the TCS London Marathon together in memory of our incredible dad, and mum’s incredible husband, David, to raise funds for Brain Research UK.

On 7th December 2024, we suddenly lost Dad to an aggressive and completely undetected brain tumour - a multiforme glioblastoma. He was full of life and energy until he suddenly started having seizures one day, we lost him just six days later.

It goes without saying that the hole this has left in our lives is insurmountable. But we are a motivated family, and despite knowing there is a long journey ahead, we know that dad would’ve wanted us to keep going (and keep running along the way).

He summited Mont Blanc, completed three Iron Mans, countless marathons, and even cycled the length of Portugal in 5 days the same year he passed. Dad’s dream was to run a family marathon the year himself and mum both turned 60 (us kids thought this idea was horrific but we knew there was no fighting him on it). Devastatingly he never got to tick this dream off his list, so now we’re doing it for him, for us, and for everyone affected by brain disease.

Why Brain Research UK?

I don’t think we’ll ever quite be able to comprehend the shock of losing dad from an undetected tumour. How can something so aggressive show no warning signs? We will always have questions that don’t quite have answers, which is why we’re passionate about raising money to fund vital research that could potentially give others more time with the people they love.

Brain Research UK is the UKs leading national funder dedicated to research into neurological conditions. The charity funds vital research to increase understanding, improve diagnosis and treatment, and work towards the prevention of neurological conditions, to help people who suffer with them live better, longer.

We know this won’t be easy, but Dad would expect nothing less than giving it our all. Every donation - big or small - will get us one step closer to funding life-changing research, and one step closer to the finish line for Dad.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

Cara, Natasha, Katie and Peter

Chris and Hector will also be supporting us every step of the way.
