Cycling Tour from the school to Paris · 2 May 2025

The Friends of John Ball School brings children, teachers, parents and carers within the school community together to raise funds for educational and enrichment activities. Events are held to build the community within the school and to raise funds to benefit all the children within the school.

Story

This May, I’m cycling from London to Paris with an inspiring group of mums, dads, and friends of John Ball — all to raise money for the school that’s been such a big part of our lives.

It feels really personal for me. John Ball has played a huge role in my daughter’s journey — helping her find her feet through the craziness of Covid, supporting her with her challenges, and encouraging her to grow into the strong, confident person she is today. Now that she’s about to finish her final year, I just really wanted to give something back to the amazing teachers and staff who’ve been there for her (and for us) along the way.

I’m definitely not a pro cyclist — this ride’s going to be full of laughs, a few tears (most likely up the hills!), and plenty of lessons along the way. But I’m so excited for the adventure, and hoping to make cycling a bigger part of my life for my health, happiness, and maybe even a few more crazy challenges like this one!

If you fancy cheering me on, thank you — whether it’s a donation or just a kind word, it honestly means so much.

With love,

Windy x x

Over the first weekend in May, a dedicated group of parents and friends from John Ball School will embark on an inspiring fundraising challenge: cycling from London to Paris.

On Day 1, we will set off from John Ball School, riding through the vibrant streets of London to Newhaven, where we’ll board the ferry to Dieppe. This journey is not just about cycling; it’s about coming together as a community for a cause that truly matters.

On Day 2, we’ll pedal through the breathtaking Normandy countryside, making our way to Giverny, home to Monet's famous gardens. The beauty of this landscape will remind us of why we are undertaking this challenge—to support our beloved school and its future.

On Day 3, we’ll continue our adventure from Giverny to Paris, culminating in a grand finale at the iconic Eiffel Tower. Some team members will tackle the long ride on Day 1 from London to Newhaven, while others will join us from Dieppe on Day 2. Together, we aim to complete this incredible journey over three days.

We invite you to be part of this meaningful endeavor by supporting us with a donation. Your generosity will help raise much-needed funds for 'Friends of John Ball', ensuring that our school can continue providing an enriching environment for all students. Our target is £500, and every contribution counts towards making a difference in our community.

Thank you for your wonderful support as we cycle towards a brighter future for our school x x
