I'm taking on the challenge of swimming 100km in 100 cumulative hours to raise money for Tiny Tickers.

Earlier this month our beautiful daughter Winnie was diagnosed with multiple congenital heart defects: a ventricular septal defect (VSD), an atrial septal defect (ASD) and narrowing of the pulmonary artery branches.

Like many families, we suddenly found ourselves learning about something we'd never expected to face, navigating hospital appointments, scans and the uncertainty that comes with having a baby born with a heart condition.

Winnie is doing brilliantly, and we're incredibly grateful for the care she's received. But her diagnosis has opened our eyes to just how many babies and families are affected by congenital heart disease.

That's why I've decided to take on this challenge.

Over the course of November, I'll be swimming 100 kilometres – approximately 6,667 lengths of my local 15-metre pool – within 100 hours of swimming time.

I'm raising money for Tiny Tickers, a charity dedicated to improving the detection, diagnosis and care of babies with serious heart conditions.

Their work helps give babies the best possible start in life, supporting earlier diagnosis and better outcomes for families facing the challenges of congenital heart disease.

It's going to take a lot of dedication and determination but it's nothing compared to what some children with congenital heart disease and their families face.
