Story
A small team from West Lindsey District Council (under the dubious team name of the Hill Enforcement Unit??) will be taking part in the Earth, Mynd and Shire public sector challenge on 11th September. Aiming to complete a minimum distance of 16 miles across the landscape of Long Mynd and the steep slopes of Carding Mill Valley conquering the 516m climb up Pole Bank along the way. Equivalent to climbing Scafell Pike and then 10 more miles!
Just by taking part we are supporting two national charities - British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK, but it is also important to us to try and use the challenge to make a local difference too, so we are raising additional monies via sponsorship for St Barnabas Hospice.
This is a local independent charity who supports more than 12,000 people across Lincolnshire affected by a life-limiting or terminal illness each year. They deliver free, high-quality, compassionate end-of-life care and support. There are many colleagues, friends or family members who have called upon St Barnabas for support in difficult times and this challenge is a way to say thank you and provides I suspect the motivation to keep going when the going gets tough!
