Story

After being a complete non runner to completing the Manchester half Marathon for a local Charity in October 2023, I wanted to take on a bigger challenge and go for a full Marathon for another Local Charity. Wigan and Leigh hospice have a large presence in our area, supporting those with incurable illnesses and their families.

On the 28th June, Our Friend Geoff sadly passed after a battle with Cancer. Geoff and my husband Gary shared some brilliant memories together as best pals, so I feel it fitting to participate in this event in memory of Geoff, to raise money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice, who gave support to him and his Family.

We provide specialist end-of-life care, and a wide range of support services, to over 1,200 people who are living with a life-limiting illness in the Wigan Borough. Many patients are cared for in their own homes, although we also care for people living in care homes and in our In-Patient Unit.
