Story

***Celebrating World Elephant Day 12th August***

Woburn Safari Park's keepers are celebrating World Elephant Day, an annual event held on the 12th August each year, dedicated to elephants as a species.

This special day aims to raise awareness about the critical role elephants play in ecosystems, the threats they face, and the need for stronger conservation policies and initiatives.

***Supporting Mahouts Elephant Foundation***

This year, Woburn Safari Park is supporting the Mahouts Elephant Foundation, an organisation built to help protect captive Asian elephants.

You can help! Your donation provides vital funds to this small hardworking charity, based in some of the most remote areas of Southeast Asia.

In return for your donation, we'll thank you with an entry into a prize draw to win a VIP Elephant Encounter & Safari for four people, plus an overnight stay at luxurious four star hotel, The Woburn!

The VIP Elephant Encounter is a two hour experience and will give you an up-close and personal experience with three of Woburn's female Asian elephants - Chandrika, Damini and Tarli. You'll learn all about the charismatic elephants living at the Park and enjoy plenty of amazing photo opportunities.

***How will your donation help?***

Keepers are raising funds for the Mahouts Elephant Foundation and to help improve the conservation and welfare of Asian Elephants; returning captive elephants to the wild, fostering community coexistence, and working to protect wild habitats.

Mahouts Elephant Foundation also raises awareness about the welfare issues facing captive working Asian elephants, and supports mahouts to care for elephants with welfare in mind, in their local villages. The charity also rescues elephants from the tourism industry and introduces them to protected forests across Thailand.
