It's a sad fact that over Christmas and New Year, domestic abuse incidents spike due to various factors such as increased time at home, alcohol consumption, financial pressure, and isolation.

These factors can exacerbate violent and abusive behaviours, towards both women and children. Whether it's psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional abuse, it can often lead to a potentially life-threatening situation.

An even sadder fact are the statistics according to Women's Aid - they report that an average of 2 women per week die, due to domestic abuse.

Established for more than 30 years, Sutton Women's Centre have been working with women across the London Borough of Sutton with a focus on supporting those who are surviving domestic abuse.

The team provide a crucial lifeline for those experiencing abuse and are in crisis - they have somewhere to turn and can reach out for help.
