The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit · 14 June 2025

CAMFED supports millions of vulnerable girls from rural communities across Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe to attend school and to create the future they imagine - for themselves, for their communities, and for Africa.

Story

Skipper Claire Gribbin (aka Prof. Bethune) and an all-women crew (Sue Fullilove, Ginny Cunliffe, Amanda Hampson, Karen Glisson, Ivy Owens and Lou Anning) will compete in the 2025 Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit on 14th June 2025 in aid of CAMFED, Campaign for Female Education.

As a crew of women privileged to have had the opportunities of education in our varied lives we are passionate about making education available to as many people as possible across the world.

CAMFED envisions a world in which every child is educated, protected, respected and valued, and grows up to turn the tide of poverty.

As the most effective strategy to tackle poverty and inequality, CAMFED multiplies educational opportunities for girls and empowers young women to become leaders of change. Our focus is on girls and young women in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. This is where girls face acute disadvantage and where their empowerment will have a transformative impact.
