Story
This September, I am taking on a pretty turbo personal challenge: swimming 17-19km (tide dependent) along the Sussex coast from Worthing to Brighton. I am aiming to complete the swim on the 5th of September but if conditions don't allow hopefully they will be better on the 6th, 12th or 13th. This open water swim is not just a test of endurance but a hopeful step toward one day crossing the English Channel. its the swimming equivalent of just short of back to back marathons. I have been questioning whether I can do it, that’s why I must try.
I’m raising funds for Surfers Against Sewage, who work to protect the very waters I’ll be swimming in. They unite communities to end sewage spills, tackle plastic pollution, and hold polluters accountable. Their tireless campaigns push for stronger environmental laws and empower local people to safeguard our precious coastlines. Lets be honest no one wants to see turds floating down the rivers or in the sea, and SAS are holding those responsible for exactly those things with direct action and are starting to make a change.
If sea conditions aren’t safe on the day, I’ll complete 18km in sea lanes swimming pool down Madeira Drive in Brighton. Every penny raised will go directly to preserving our oceans, waves, beaches, and rivers because clean water isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.
Please join me in supporting Surfers Against Sewage by donating towards my £1,000 goal. Together, we can protect our beautiful coastlines and stop the turds and sewage polluting the sea and waterways for generations to come and ensure that clean water remains at the heart of our environment.
