Walking the 630 miles of Southwest Coastal Path in one go! · 14 June 2024

Woody's Lodge is a social hub who signpost, support and mentor veterans, emergency services, reservists and their families in safe, quiet and informal surroundings.

Story

Woody’s Lodge is a haven for veterans and emergency service leavers, and in the summer of 2024 we are undertaking a challenge - to walk the entire 630-mile South West Coastal Path, aiming to complete this task in just 30 to 35 days.

The aim of this challenge has two objectives, to raise awareness of veteran sacrifice and to raise awareness of the vital work we do at Woody's Lodge, and to generate much-needed funds that allow us to continue supporting our veterans and emergency service leavers.

The journey will start in Minehead in Somerset and weave its way through Devon and Cornwall, ending at the mouth of Poole Harbour. Along the way, we will be pausing at military memorials to pay our respects and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many. A significant stop will be Saunton Sands, where our charities namesake, Paul Woody Woodland, tragically lost his life. We will tell the stories and lay a token of respect at each of these memorials along the trail to highlight the sacrifice made.

Our goal is to raise at least £10,000, which will go directly towards supporting the various activities and services we provide at Woody's Lodge. These funds will make a tangible difference in the lives of those we support, helping to provide counselling services, social activities, and much-needed companionship to those who often feel left behind.

But we can't do it alone. We need your support to reach our goal. Your donations, no matter how big or small, will help us to honour our veterans and ensure that Woody's Lodge continues to be a beacon of support for those who have served.

So, we invite you to join us on this journey. Follow us on social media as we share our progress, our stories, and our reflections along the way. And if you can, please consider donating to help us reach our goal. Together, we can make a difference.

Thank you for your support.
