We’re 1st Woolsery Cubs, taking part in the Bideford Soapbox Derby once again this year!

This time, we’re racing in support of South West Blood Bikes, a fantastic charity.

Our soapbox design this year has a space theme – a spaceship! 🚀

This links to another amazing achievement from our Cubs, who have recently completed the Astro Pi Mission Zero challenge, writing simple computer code that was sent to space as part of an educational project run with the International Space Station.

We wanted to bring that experience to life by turning our soapbox into a spaceship – combining creativity, STEM learning, teamwork, and a love of adventure.

The Cubs are involved in every stage of the journey – from designing and building, to decorating and supporting on race day. It’s been a brilliant hands-on experience full of learning, problem-solving, and fun.

We’re aiming to raise funds for South West Blood Bikes, and every donation will help support their vital work keeping life-saving transport running across the region.
