Story
Hello, we are the team from the Radiotherapy Department at Worcestershire Oncology Centre, Worcestershire Royal Hospital. We are fundraising to help purchase enhanced additional equipment for our Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) technology.
SGRT is an advanced, non-invasive technique that uses 3D surface imaging to improve patient positioning, treatment accuracy, and overall patient experience.
This technology is especially important for breast cancer patients, many of whom require a breath-hold technique during treatment. Currently, breath-hold instructions are delivered verbally via intercom. This can be challenging for patients who are hard of hearing, whose first language isn’t English, or have other communication needs.
We want to change that.
Through our fundraising efforts, we aim to contribute toward the purchase of a ‘ceiling-mounted visual light display,’ that provides clear visual cues to guide patients through the breath-hold process. This will make SGRT more accessible, inclusive, and reassuring for every patient who relies on it.
As a team, we aim to raise £2,000 through a variety of activities, including:
• Worcester Half Marathon on 17th May
• Worcester City Runs on 13th September
• Bake Sales
• Raffles
• …and more to come!
By supporting us, you’ll be helping ensure that every patient – regardless of hearing ability, language or communication need, can receive radiotherapy treatment in the safest, most comfortable and dignified way possible.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference to those undergoing cancer treatment.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
