LCC Big Bike Ride fundraiser for RUHX - Bill’s page

LCC Big Bike Ride · 26 May 2025
As you know I am not a cricketer but I have personal experience of the RUH as a cyclist and how important their work is.
My cycling journey with LCC began late last spring thanks to a chance discussion with friends over a bottle of wine or two. Scott who happens to be the chairman of the Lansdown Cricket Club suggested we take on this epic challenge and 12 months later and a lot of sweat and wine, I am now ready to face the challenge. This is no mean feat; cycling up to a 100 miles in a day is a doable but my stamina and body will be tested to its max as I repeat this for four days!
Training within a team has been a great experience and we have all pushed each other (over)! On a serious note, for amateur cyclists this is a big challenge but one which we are all up for.
The RUH is close to my heart as it has twice saved my wife from dying; fixed me up after a bike crash and looked after our son when he was so poorly as a young toddler.
We are lucky to have such a great resource on our doorstep and well worthy of supporting. Please give what you can and hold back some more for when I have finished!
2025 is a huge year for Lansdown Cricket Club as it celebrates it’s Bicentenary - 200 YEARS of great sporting memories in our amazing city.
As part of the celebrations we want to give something back to our community and set the challenge of raising £200,000 for our 200th year.
All proceeds will be donated to local charities that do so much for us in Bath. Primarily these are Dorothy House and NEW. Friends of the RUH
The Big Bike Ride is a MASSIVE challenge for 18 (mostly) novice cyclists to visit every test cricket ground in England covering a whopping 850km in just 4 days!
