Story
A bit from Adam and James . . .
James will be completing the Ludlow Sprint Triathlon this September and raising money for The Wren Project in the process. The Triathlon itself consists of a 400m swim, a 26km cycle and 6.25km run.
“The Ludlow Sprint Tri will be my first triathlon. I’ve always been a reasonably active person, however with this event I am jumping straight into the deep end having never undertaken anything like it, not even a local park run.”
UPDATE:
Unfortunately due to rising costs and a low participate sign up the Ludlow Sprint Triathlon has been cancelled. Fear not though, I will now be doing the Warwickshire (Stratford Upon Avon) Sprint Triathlon on 1st October 2023 instead.
Also in response to everyone’s incredible generosity I have decided to up the stakes and will now be doing two sprint triathlons over two weekends, back to back.
Sunday 24th September 2023 - Worcester (self organised event supported by family)
400 m Swim
26 km cycle
6.25 km run
Sunday 1st October 2023 - Stratford Upon Avon (organised event)
400 m Swim
18 km cycle
5 km run
A massive thank you to everyone who has donated already. Please spread the word and let’s get this total as high as possible.
James’s Motivation...
“In 2020, I like so many people up and down the country (and indeed the world) found myself working from home during the pandemic. It was novel for a while but I soon found it hard without the balance of social life. Fast forward to post social distancing and better times, a return to normal never really happened for me, at least when it came to work. Instead I found my job shift to remote working permanently.
I’m fortunate enough to have a great friend in Adam and over the years we’ve made a habit of checking in with each other. It was during one of our semi-regular ‘catch ups’ that I / we realised the impact working from home was having on my general well-being. Exercise emerged as one of several personal changes I made. The challenge of the triathlon followed a little while later once I had established a decent routine involving running, cycling and gym sessions.
As my training has progressed, Adam has kept me updated with his family’s journey and the amazing support Wren have offered. Their incredible work is a great source of motivation and supporting them will make all the hard work and sweat worth every bit.”
The Wren Project is a small charity who offer listening support to people with autoimmune disease. People living with an autoimmune disease or other debilitating health conditions often have incredibly lengthy, complex and uncertain routes to getting the correct medical diagnosis. The Wren Project seeks to support people through their journey to receiving and following a diagnosis. You can find out more about the great work they do here: The Wren Project
The Wren Project has played a relatively small but incredibly valuable role in my family’s journey and has helped many many others along theirs. If you would like to help give James that extra dose of motivation to complete his challenge and help The Wren Project continue to support people, please do donate to this Just Giving page.
Thank you so much!
