Story
We’re back to honour Steve Wrigley—this time walking the Gower Peninsula. Steve was a much-loved friend to many and a fellow Forester, and we sadly lost him three years ago before he had the chance to walk with us. He supported so many friends and colleagues and gave so much to others throughout his life. Two years ago, a group of Foresters, along with Charlotte (Steve’s daughter), walked Hadrian’s Wall in his memory and in support of Youth Sport, and now we are lacing up our walking boots once again.
Every year, the President of the Foresters Friendly Society selects a charity to support, and this year our President, Gail Lancaster, has chosen Alzheimer’s Society. Foresters across the organisation come together to raise funds, and this year is no exception. This April, we’ll be taking on the Gower Peninsula over two days—in memory of Steve and in support of a truly deserving charity.
Dementia is the UK's biggest killer, and one in three people born in the UK today will develop it in their lifetime.
As the UK's leading dementia charity, Alzheimer's Society tackles all aspects of dementia by giving help and hope to people affected by dementia today and in the future.
It's only because of supporters like Forester's Friendly Society that we can continue to do that. Together, we can ensure dementia no longer devastates lives.
