Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

We, the M&C Saatchi World Services team, have selected the UK Sepsis Trust as our Charity of the Year for 2025.

We hope to raise £15,000 through charity events and challenges throughout the year, with all donations supporting the UK Sepsis Trust in their life saving work.

Fundraising is at the heart of the UKST's fight against sepsis. It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis?". Fundraising helps to prevent thousands of deaths and unnecessary suffering through knowledge and awareness of sepsis symptoms.

All donations raised will funds the UKST's vital work raising public awareness, educating healthcare professionals, supporting bereaved families, and helping sepsis survivors to adjust to life after sepsis through accessing support nurses. The UKST also lobby the government to encourage vital changes to improve sepsis outcomes for millions of people.

Sepsis awareness is a cause close to the heart of many of World Services teammates. Maria Campanini put the UK Sepsis Trust forward as this year's charity partner in memory of her sister, Gina, who passed away from sepsis, aged 30, on September 14, 2023.
