Hiking Machu Picchu for Winchester Youth Counselling

Trekking Machu Picchu · 4 October 2024
From October 4-13 this year I will be hiking Machu Picchu with my mum to raise money for Winchester Youth Counselling (WYC). WYC is a charity based in Winchester (UK) centred around youth mental health — they provide free counselling and therapy sessions for young people aged 11-25 as well as parent support sessions on key issues. WYC has a keen interest on the effect of spending time outdoors on well-being, and provides a unique group therapy experience in nature for those who need it most. I have been involved with WYC since last summer as a member of the youth board; we help represent the youth in service and policy discussions to make sure that WYC is reaching its goals. Fun fact for it you needed any more convincing to help support this cause — Chris Packham is the patron of this charity and is widely out-spoken in supporting its mission to improve access to mental health services for young people.
Donations:
£5– funds a parent support consultation.
£10– funds a 20 minute urgent assessment for a young person in need.
£20– funds a full counselling session for a young person.
£30– funds a wildlife expert to guide a group therapy nature session.
Please consider making a donation, it all goes to WYC and will directly support somebody to get the mental health care they need. Even just £5 makes a difference!!
