Wycliffe College Colour Run 5k
As a dedicated member of the Round Square & Charity Committee, and a committed Year 13 student at Wycliffe College, Amelie would like to share her personal connection to this cause:
My name is Amelie. I am a Year 13 student at Wycliffe College, and I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when I was just five days old. To manage my CF, I do physiotherapy every day, take up to 35 tablets daily, and have to watch my diet and exercise regularly.
Coexisting with my condition has led me on a journey that has been tough at times, but it has shaped me into the person I am today. One of the best physical therapies for CF is running, as it helps to clear the lungs and breathe freely.
So join us to do exactly that and support the cause!
Cystic Fibrosis
Affecting the lungs, digestive organs and most parts of daily life, Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition that impacts over 11,000 people in the UK. The gene affected by CF controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells. As a result, people with CF experience a build-up of thick, sticky mucus in the lungs, digestive system and other organs, causing symptoms that affect the whole body. CF is a chronic condition, meaning a cure is yet to be found. However, advances in technology and medicine are rapidly improving the quality of life for those living with it.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the charity uniting people to stop cystic fibrosis.
